Video Intelligence search
Video Intelligence describes what your cameras see when they detect people, vehicles and other activity, so you can search footage by typing what you’re looking for.
It is a paid add-on, turned on per camera. See plans and billing.
Turn it on for a camera
Section titled “Turn it on for a camera”Admins and Operators can do this.
- Open Devices (or Cameras & Recorders).
- On the camera, select VI off and confirm with Enable.
The camera shows a sparkle badge when it’s on. Searches include its activity from then on. Turn it off the same way at any time.
Search
Section titled “Search”- Open Video Intelligence from the sidebar (or the Search tab on the phone).
- Type what you’re looking for in plain words. For example:
- “person at the front door last night”
- “vehicles in the parking lot this week”
- “someone carrying a package near the gate”
- “any activity after 2 AM”
- Press Search.
You get a short summary and up to 20 matching moments, best match first. Select Playback on a result to watch that moment.
Tips:
- Mention a time (“yesterday”, “this week”, “after midnight”) to narrow it down. Without one, the last 7 days are searched.
- Describe things you’d see: clothing colors, vehicles, packages, groups of people.
- Search covers cameras with Video Intelligence on, from the day it was turned on, for up to 180 days.
Today’s preview
Section titled “Today’s preview”For cameras with Video Intelligence, Today’s preview plays a fast summary of the day’s events. Open it from the camera’s toolbar in Playback, from the Dashboard, or with the film strip icon on the phone.
