Events
An event is something a camera or recorder detected, such as a person, a vehicle, a line crossing or a lost video signal. Open Events from the sidebar to see them.
Live and History
Section titled “Live and History”- Live shows events as they happen. Pause feed freezes the list so you can read it; new events are counted and shown when you resume. Sound on plays a beep for critical events while the page is open.
- History is for looking back. Pick a time range (Last hour, Last 24h, Last 7d, Last 30d or Custom) and narrow it down:
- by type (for example only Person and Vehicle),
- by recorder and channel (camera),
- with the search box (camera, recorder or rule name),
- with After-hours (11 PM to 5 AM) or Needs review (not yet acknowledged),
- with the Person, Vehicle, Face and Crowd buttons.
Drag across the Timeline chart to zoom in on a busy period, or click a camera under Activity by camera to see only that camera. Saved views keeps a set of filters for later, in this browser.
History shows the newest 500 events for your filters. For a long or busy range, narrow the dates or filters to see older ones.
Open an event
Section titled “Open an event”Click an event to open its details. From there you can:
- Open in playback to watch the footage around it,
- Download clip (30 seconds around the event),
- Share clip to save it and copy a link (see clips),
- move to the previous or next event with the arrow keys.
Events with footage in the cloud show a cloud mark and play right in the details panel.
Keyboard: j and k move through the list, Enter opens playback, x selects an event, and Esc closes the panel. Select several events to Export CSV or Download clips for all of them.
On the phone
Section titled “On the phone”Open the Events tab. Use the filters at the top for store, time (Today, Last 24h, Last 7 Days), camera and type. Smart alerts shows people, vehicles, line crossings, intrusions, faces and loitering, without plain motion.
- Tap an event to watch it.
- Tap the check mark to acknowledge it.
- Press and hold for details, Download and Share.
Too many events?
Section titled “Too many events?”- Each recorder has Event subscriptions on the Devices page that choose which kinds of events it sends. Plain motion is off by default because it is noisy.
- Each camera has an Events button on the Devices page to ignore certain types on that camera only, for example vehicles on a camera facing a drive-thru. Ignored events aren’t stored, alerted or kept in the cloud.
- To change which events reach your phone, see notifications.
Events are kept for 180 days.
