Cloud recording
Your recorder keeps all footage on its own drive. Cloud recording also keeps a copy of each event in the cloud, so you can watch it from anywhere, even when the recorder is offline.
What gets kept
Section titled “What gets kept”- Event footage, not 24/7 recording. Every event except plain motion is copied, from 5 seconds before to 10 seconds after. Events close together are joined into one clip, up to about 5 minutes.
- Copies are usually in the cloud within a minute of the event ending. If the site’s internet is down, clips wait and are copied when it reconnects.
- Footage is kept for 7, 30 or 90 days, set per camera, then removed automatically.
- Cloud clips have no audio. To keep audio, save a clip.
- It works with IC Core devices and the IC Secure Recorder.
Turn it on for a camera
Section titled “Turn it on for a camera”Admins and Operators can do this.
- Open Devices (called Cameras & Recorders in Simple mode).
- Find the recorder and the camera.
- Select the camera’s Cloud off button and choose 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. The price for each is shown in the menu.
The camera then shows a 7d, 30d or 90d badge. Billing updates automatically. See plans and billing.
To stop, choose Off. New events are no longer copied, and footage already in the cloud stays until its own end date.
Cameras without an SD card
Section titled “Cameras without an SD card”If a camera keeps no recording of its own (no SD card, or recording turned off), cloud clips are recorded from the live stream instead. You’ll see “· live” next to the setting. These clips start when the event fires, with no seconds before it, and nothing is kept while the site is offline. For full coverage, put an SD card in every camera that records on its own.
Watch cloud footage
Section titled “Watch cloud footage”- Events: events stored in the cloud show a cloud mark. Select it to play the clip, even if the recorder is offline.
- Playback: cloud clips appear as a blue bar under the green recording bar on the timeline, and days with cloud footage are ringed in blue on the calendar. See find recorded footage.
- Phone app: cloud clips show as a thin blue bar next to the recording bar.
The daily allowance
Section titled “The daily allowance”Each camera with cloud recording on adds 4 GB to an allowance shared by all your cameras over a rolling 24 hours. A busy camera can use what quiet ones don’t. Most cameras use far less.
Admins can see usage on the Billing page under Cloud storage, including which cameras store the most. Admins get an email when the last 24 hours pass 80% of the allowance.
At 100%, nothing is lost and there is no extra charge: new clips wait and are copied as the allowance frees up, and the recorder keeps recording on site as usual.
